Britta Wirtz (42), Speaker of the Management Board of Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress GmbH, was elected to the post of First Deputy Chairman of the Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics (FKM) for the next three years. The election took place on 22 November 2013 in Frankfurt/Main, at the annual partner meeting of FKM. Ms. Wirtz takes over from Egon Galinnis, Managing Director of Messe Essen GmbH, who will step down as First Deputy Chairman on 31 December 2013.
Wolfgang Marzin, Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, remains as Chairman of FKM and was confirmed in his post for the next three years. Carola Schwennsen, Managing Director of Fachausstellungen Heckmann GmbH, Hannover, and Chairman of FAMA – Fachverband Messen und Ausstellungen, was also re-elected and retains the post of Second Deputy Chairman.
56 German exhibition organisers and two guest members from Hong Kong and Verona are currently members of FKM. FKM certifies the exhibitor, space and visitor statistics and visitor breakdowns of trade fairs on the basis of uniform criteria. Every year FKM certifies around 220 exhibitions. Preliminary data collected by FKM is published on the website at www.fkm.de and after auditing is summarised in the FKM Annual Report entitled ‘Certified Exhibition Data’.
