At German trade fairs, exhibitors can reach large numbers of trade visitors with a high degree of decision-making authority: 59% of trade visitors to international and national trade fairs have direct or joint decision-making influence regarding the purchasing and sourcing decisions of their companies. This was the result of an evaluation of 120 visitor surveys from the year 2015 certified by FKM – the Society for the Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics.

According to the survey, a further 20% of trade visitors have at least advisory influence within their companies. This group, too, is absolutely relevant from an exhibitor perspective. As users, the opinions of such people tend to be given a great deal of weight in group decisions.

All FKM-certified trade and public visitor surveys from 2015 are available in the trade fair database on the FKM website (www.fkm.de).

The data provides information about the regional origin and age of the visitors, their professional positions, the frequency of their fair visits and their purchasing and ordering activities. The database also contains basic data about each certified event in Germany and guest members in Italy and China. In addition to general data about the dates and organisers, companies can find detailed information about the numbers of exhibitors and visitors as well as the size of the fair. Altogether the database contains data regarding approximately 270 exhibitions in Germany.
