When deciding which trade fairs to exhibit at, it is essential to have reliable data about the quality of these fairs. The FKM – Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics – is an important source of certified data. The FKM’s results for 2017 are contained in its 2017 Annual Report, which has just been published. Exhibitor and visitor statistics as well as visitor profile analyses for the last year have been compiled in accordance with uniform standards. They are also available online and in many cases also for exhibitions held in the first half of 2018.
FKM Chairman Klaus Dittrich noted the following at the release of the Annual Report: “The first step in selecting the ‘right’ exhibitions consists of defining your company aims, and then examining which fairs attract the right visitors in terms of their industries, regions and decision-making capacities. The FKM provides precisely this type of data.”
Last year, a total of 47 German organisers that are members of FKM had 178 exhibitions certified by the auditing company Ernst & Young. In addition to the basic data, which includes the number of exhibitors, the stand space and the number of visitors, broken down into German and international segments, FKM provides data on the composition of the trade and private visitors, including data on their regional origin, influence on purchasing decisions, and professional status, for 132 events.
Along with the German members of the society, the two guest members from abroad, the Verona Trade Fair Company and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, had 18 exhibitions certified.
