Audited exhibitor, space and visitor figures for 2,092 trade fairs and exhibitions in Europe are covered in the brochure “Euro Fair Statistics 2009”, which has now been published by UFI – The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. The brochure presents data from 12 auditing organisations, operating in 20 countries, including the German FKM. With these statistics, the countries involved aim to simplify trade fair planning and the assessment of trade fair success, especially, for Europe-wide-operating companies. For the first time, the industry sectors were indicated this year.

In total, at the audited exhibitions 578,778 exhibitors 50.8m visitors and 20.9m m² of rented space were registered. UFI estimates that the audited trade fairs included in this report represent between 40-45% of the European exhibition market. Covered are events in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and Ukraine.

The observation of the rules was monitored in each case by one or more public accountants or other independent organisations. Responsible for the auditing system and the body of rules is in Germany and for some exhibitions abroad the Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics (FKM).
